Devlog 18: Small fixes thanks to feedback and working on new content
I've decided to number devlogs because of how many there are now. The latest update contains small fixes to some of the issues pointed out during the latest Demo Day.
In the first place, it's now possible to hover the mouse over any unit on the board to see their current status. Journal messages have also been modified to contain more information such as the HP change.
Next, the stats screen now contains a tutorial on the effects of each main attribute accessible by pressing the "how?" button at any time. I also added some contextualization for what each stat does because I think it's cool.
The perks screen has also been visually modified. It's now down - up instead of up-down. This is part of an ongoing effort to make the UI more uniform and thus less confusing. Now the UI related controls are always on the lower side of the screen like the combat controls and the button to return is on the rightmost side. Also, it's always labeled as "return" now. This is a work in progress.
In terms of enemy AI I have tweaked the "stupidity value". What is the stupidity value you ask, hypothetical confused reader? Well, you see, the AI has a small chance (5%) to make an objectively bad choice to save the player sometimes. The issue is that over hundreds of turns this rate is probably too high so it has been decreased to 1% for the time being. In the near future I think it would be cool to create a few additional jobs for AI controlled enemies. So far there are only warriors, mages, rogues, healers, defenders and hunters, but there could definitely be more.
Speaking of which, I've dedicated a lot of time these past 2 weeks to working on new enemies. It seems kind of crazy, but I'm almost done with enemy assets for the game. Sometimes I wish I could keep working on these guys forever.
Anyway, that's all I had this time around. I also fixed some other issues such as the wrong tooltips showing up as so but that's not interesting. See you in 2 weeks.
