Devlog 34: Good News, I Had a Nightmare
It was a good one too, but it would spoil something in stage 16 so I can't use it. What a shame.
Anyway, these past 2 weeks I've been mostly working on art. I'm running out of slides to fix but my second least favorite one was in the list this time around so I'm rather happy with the results.
However, I'm not posting any of that because it would be a spoiler. Instead, please enjoy this picture of Brunner. As you can see, the differences are minor but I greatly decreased the pillow shading and improved the face a little bit. This is a sign that I'm finally running out of art to improve. The end is near.
Brunner is an important character all things considered, he causes strong reactions on the people he knows which leads them to reveal aspects about their personalities. There are some details that I wanted people to notice about him too like how he is the only angel that wears armor and uses conventional weapons. The fact that his swords are asymmetrical is also a giveaway about the properties of poor man's iron.
On a different note, Finnegan has a new portrait.
His portrait was the worst out of all the main characters, probably because it was the first I ever did. I think it's a good example of how my crappy art skills have (hopefully) improved over the past 2 years or so. At first you couldn't tell what he was wearing and the palette was muddy looking. Also, there was little distinction between the color of the mail an the plate, not to mention the terrible proportions.
I'm still far from a good artist but you can't keep iterating over the same picture forever so I'll leave it like this. The picture on the right is Finnegan forever and ever now.
I have also been fixing numerous issues, some of them introduced by the last update. Shameful.
Polish is comprised of many tiny changes that aren't very interesting by themselves but add up over time.
As an example, several instances of text such as tile descriptions in the Arena are now affected by the general text speed setting and disappear instantly when the player removes the mouse. Exciting , isn't?
In all seriousness, I don't feel like talking about stuff like that. Therefore, I hope you enjoyed this devlog, dear hypothetical reader, and I hope to see you again in around 2 weeks. Until then, the day of release approaches.
