Devlog 07: Demo day 50 is over.
I should have written this while Demo Day was ongoing but I honestly didn't know what to write. I've been updating every 2 weeks so my progress during the preceding weeks up to Demo Day 50 was all documented in this not-at-all comprehensive way.
Regardless of that, I think the event went pretty well all things considered, I got fewer bug reports than last time and I also had time to play other games which is pretty neat. Feedback is extremely important seeing how each event has contributed around 30 new items to my to-do list. Considering the document contains over 300 elements that means almost a third of the total issues and suggestions so far have come from Demo Day feedback after participating 3 times.
For next DD I would like to have some improved assets. I've thought a lot about it and I want to try drawing at a higher resolution, maybe add some animations and expressions for character portraits as well. The biggest problem is that making this game has been a learning experience so a lot of the assets I made when I first started were rather bad.
I want to try and do this with the first level and see if I can both do it in a reasonable time and the results are worth the additional effort because if I don't fight the urge to be a perfectionist I'll keep developing this game for all eternity.
Anyways, the fact that this is a public post helps me greatly because that way I feel an obligation to not disappoint my imaginary audience after promising to do something. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you in 2 weeks or so.
