Devlog 01: A small progress report.
The following log is meant to document a series of small changes that I have made to the game based on the feedback I received during AGDG Demo Day 48. I won't list every change but I'll list some of the most significant ones.
1. The game has a few more tooltips now, particularly in the stats screen and during combat. The descriptions aren't perfect, but it's something I can improve further at a later date. Particularly, I would like to add precise damage values for skills and a bit more color in general. I have also made slight changes to text everywhere so it fits better within the UI.
2. I have tried my best to fix the perk system as some have reported not getting the chance to unlock any. I think it should work as intended now, or at the very least whatever was going on should be way less likely to happen.
3. The game is now fully 100% playable with mouse only. Clicking can be used to forward text during dialogue sections and cutscenes. It's also possible to quit dialogue in the main hub at any point by pressing Escape or right clicking.
4. It's now possible to change the speed of combat by pressing Q or E. There are 5 different levels of speed available. In the future I would like to make the speed indicator prettier since it's just a text indicator at the moment and add some mouse control for this and other features that remain keyboard only.
5. AI should be more aggressive now and use their skills more. Enemy variety is kind of meaningless if units don't use their unique skills so I wanted to correct that. Also, the final boss of the demo should be much harder now as well.
For the next Demo Day I would like to have a tutorial that's actually useful, add a settings menu, and at least up to stage 9 in terms of content. Perhaps even a real cover this time around too. I should also post on social media, but that doesn't feel like progress to me. I don't know how other people do it.
Anyways, that's all I wanted to write down. Once again, I'm grateful for everyone who played and provided feedback, perhaps that doesn't mean much to you but it sure does for me. Thank you.
